"Our prime purpose in this life is to help others. And if you can't help them, at least don't hurt them." Dalai Lama
Small Stones#22
Most of us go through life wondering what our purpose is...
Maybe it's to do A or accomplish B
What seems to be the overriding answer is to serve...
Whether we help others or ourselves, that matters...
Purpose

"I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman, "Where's the self-help section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose." George Carlin
Small Stones #22
Sometimes humor could be our purpose too...
If we make another smile or laugh out loud,
Or like little Sammy above, maybe...
If we make someone sneeze and destroy barriers...
Could that be enough?
What are small stones?
According to the originators of this wonderful exercise, a small stone is a short piece of writing (prose or poetry) that precisely captures a fully-engaged moment. The process of discovering small stones is as important as the finished product. Searching for small stones will encourage you to keep all your senses; - your eyes,(and ears, nose, mouth, fingers, feelings and mind) open.
Some Food for Thought: What do you think your purpose is? Take a moment to contemplate what Purpose means to you? Love and Peace in 2013.
I would love to hear from you: Please leave me a comment. Thank You!

Another very inspiring posts! I always love to read the short poems.
ReplyDeleteThey say surround yourself with people who are good to you so that you will feel better about yourself!
ReplyDeleteLovely. I believe we do not have one overriding purpose, at least not as most people I know try to define it. We have different purposes at different times for different people and situations. Of course, that meets your thought that "to serve" is actually our purpose, and it is a good one... :-)
ReplyDeleteNice post. Really inspiring. I believe we're all here for a reason. We can only figure it out if we are true to ourselves.
ReplyDeleteLady Anne TY! I'm not much of a poet writer but I do enjoy the small stones... :-)
ReplyDeletePinay, that is so true... We are the company we keep. TY! :-)
ReplyDeleteTY Dana! I like your interpretation... I was raised to believe we each had a specific purpose on earth and that it was tied to service; a specific service. maybe it does change over time. :-)
ReplyDeleteRizza TY! If we are true to ourselves the reason will become apparent... Very interesting. I like that idea. :-)
ReplyDeleteVery inspiring post! Indeed very true. In life, people come and go and we decide who should stay for good. :)
ReplyDeleteTY Krizza! That is the case and sometimes it is sad when we have to leave certain people who are good but toxic in our lives.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely true. I choose to have just few trusted people around me who know me inside out. They bring out the worst and best in me. :)
ReplyDeleteMommy Maye

I hear you and same here... They can help us clarify our purpose. TY! :-)
ReplyDeletetruly ! But is easy to get surrounded by the people who make you positive about yourself, what if you are surrounded by people who are demeaning, overriding and it is not possible to get way from them???
ReplyDeleteThank you for your inspiration and good tidings .
ReplyDeleteThe Self-help joke is funny. Thanks for the laugh and inspiration <3
ReplyDeleteSuch a great post. Very positive thoughts and attitude.
ReplyDeleteHelping others is definitely important and so is humor! These are great things to think about.
ReplyDeleteYes, we are all put on earth for one purpose. Some people figure it out quickly while others take a very long time to figure it out.
ReplyDeletethis was a really great post! thank you for making me inspired by your post :)
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing this wonderful post. It sometimes takes us a while to realize what our true purpose in life is.
ReplyDeleteI love the George Carlin quote.
ReplyDeleteVery inspirational post indeed & I like that wonderful quote from Dalai lama. The self-help joke is absolutely funny & I just loved it. Thanks a lot for sharing this fun and inspiring post.
ReplyDeleteI think purpose is really what you make of it. So often you hear of people referring to "finding their purpose" but I don't think it's something you find, it's something you decide on.
