Reflections: I am Brave and Beautiful

“The beauty of a woman is not in a facial mole, but true beauty in a Woman is reflected in her soul. It is the caring that she lovingly gives, the passion that she knows.” Audrey Hepburn

I am brave and beautiful with or without make up - with make up

IamBraveAndBeautiful With and Without Make Up

When I first came across the #IamBraveAndBeautiful campaign on keepmovingforwardwithme's blog, my initial reaction was reservation.  I thought to myself and then shared with her: What a beautiful campaign. I wish we would all start at home teaching our daughters that they are beautiful as God created them. I am brave and beautiful with and without makeup. I look forward to the day when this would be a given, not something to campaign for. That said, I'm going to join the effort because every bit counts.  As I pondered what all it meant, I knew in my heart that every effort we make to bring women together to love and respect ourselves is a step in the right direction. I know Megan and Cobi had great intentions when this idea was planted in their hearts and so, whether we agree with it or not, it is inspiring.

I am brave and beautiful with and without make up - No make up

I grew up in a household where make up was not encouraged. My Mom and Step Mom used very little of it; yes they were blessed with good skin. I experimented with it in my teen years; wore a lot of it in my twenties, cut back in my thirties, and wear it as needed now. Sometimes, all I wear is lipstick and sometimes I forget to put it on when I'm rushing out of the house. My daughters don't wear any make up because they think it does nothing for them (wise children). I like it occasionally and admire women who can apply it flawlessly... You know, the no make up, make-up look? Ha!
I am Brave and Beautiful - a beauty movement that is sweeping the globe. Colbie Caillat started it with her recent song and video called:

Reflections: A Collage And Seven Questions...

"The greatest healing therapy is friendship and love." Hubert H. Humphrey

"Did I offer peace today? Did I bring a smile to someone's face? Did I say words of healing? Did I let go of my anger and resentment? Did I forgive? Did I love?' These are the real questions. I must trust that the little bit of love that I sow now will bear many fruits, here in this world and the life to come." Henri Nouwen

Did I offer peace today?
Did I bring a smile to someone's face?
Did I say words of healing?

This week, I've spent time curating  photos for a photo group. Each day we have to submit a photo that fits a word. Sometimes, its easy and at other times frustrating. Through it all, I've found ways to make peace with the limitations of my collection. Since the week ends on Sunday, I've put together photos from my first week. They represent: In my cup, Stripes, Button, DIY, Upside down, I Need, and Father. Adding a photo of my dad is a first. He passed away suddenly some years ago. It has taken me as long to make peace with his absence, smile at his photos and heal. Today, I responded to the questions above with special attention on my relationship with my father. The collage will make someone smile and hopefully, the peace and healing that I feel from creating a piece and including my dad will help someone find that comfort over a loss. I'm pleased...

Photo A Day: BUTTON And A HEALING...

"You have to take positions on bills. There is no button for maybe or possibly." Charlie Dent

I've never been much of a button collector, but I know how much they are valued. We use them to hold our clothing together... We use them to create important messages that we want others to hear and to commemorate important events in our lives. The simple button can also be a way to heal. We look at the various buttons in the bowl and GOOD jumps at me. In the midst of sadness and chaos, there is always some good. Lets find it!

Inspiration: Healing...

"If there's no breaking then there's no healing, and if there's no healing then there's no learning." -One Tree Hill

Inspiration: Healing...

Stone#19
Hours ticking by, we are all in need of healing
I hear the titihoya cry, we cry for healing...
A wreath floats by, the heart yearns for healing
A flower blooms, we begin our healing
A hug in sight... we become the healing...
