Today is Positive Thinking Day and there is no better way to celebrate it than to put on some Happy music, put a big smile on your face, give free hugs liberally and dance the night away. Why not? It's going to be a great day; today, tomorrow and every day we choose to be happy about life and all the good in it. In case you are wondering how PTD came about, you should read Dr. Kirsten Harrell's story. She is the Chief Positive Officer for PTD and initiator of this important idea to designate 24 hours for us to observe and change how we respond to situations in our environment. What does positive thinking mean to you?

According several sources; including the good folk at PositiveThinkingDay, CNN,HuffPost, Examiner, and Reader's Digest, there are many ways to create a positive experience in our daily lives. One thing they all seemed to share is the fact that happiness and being positive is a choice. We can look at difficult situations and find the good in them. We can choose to see the light in a dark tunnel. If we want to maintain an equilibrium of joy in our lives, we have to be proactive in ensuring that we surround ourselves with uplifting people and thoughts. Our mood and perspective can shift if we avoid negativity and practice being aware of positive pick-me-ups.  How does it manifest in your life?

As you can see, there are lots of ways to put a smile on our faces. Each of us can create a list of things that make us happy and keep it handy as a quick reference. I've always enjoyed a good laugh and love reading inspirational books that remind me of the best outlook to adopt. Music is a great equalizer and if Happy music is part of your daily make-up, Pharrell Williams song above should make you smile. He features ordinary people dancing to his song. Now that is taking a chance at being videotaped for being Happy. We can be grounded in reality and still find joy in our lives. Being positive or happy doesn't mean pretending that everything is perfect. It means seeing the perfection in our imperfections. It's more about  being solution oriented than walking around with a smile on our faces. How do you create positivity in your life?

Some Food for Thought: Be vigilant; and keep the mind happy. What does Positive thinking mean to you? How does it manifest in your life? What are you grateful for today?; Love and Peace!

I would love to hear from you. Please leave me a comment. Thank You!

  8. A simple way towards the day can make your life easier the minute you wake up in the morning. That's the way simple people will live and happy for their existence. God created humans as equal and humans decided their own life, where the happiness brings.

  29. Great tips and I love the quote at the beginning! I actually were a huge Polyanna fan in my childhood and tried to be just like her. It might not be a perfect option (at least the movie version, the book isn't as annoying) but it did teach me a lot about seeing the good in everything and loving my life and the people around me.

  36. I am glad you talked about this. I think it is a choice whether to be positive or not. There is a lot of bad things going on but we have to try to look at the good and if we compare ourselves to those less fortunate we will realize we really have it great compared to most people.
