Photo A Day: In My Cup

"Something opens our wings. Something makes boredom and hurt disappear. Someone fills the cup in front of us: We taste only sacredness." Rumi

What's In My Cup? Well, in my three cups...?  Guess and I'll reveal at the end of this post.

Happy Labor Day! Every day I wake up, I have a simple routine that has held up for some years now. I do my morning meditation and prayers and then I turn to the window and look out to see what's going on in the world outside my window. Because we live in an area with lots of other forms of life, I tend to see the birds, a deer or two, the squirrels, an occasional turkey and more. I say my thanks to the Creator for my life and the lives of all around me; human and otherwise.  This ritual gained greater credence with the health challenges of the last year... We cherish the cup of fluid we are poured when things are going great, but it is even more powerful to see that cup as sacred and filled with blessings when life throws us a curve-ball.

This month, BlogHer's NabloPoMo blogging theme is - Healing. I am thrilled to join in  again and work on a subject that is close to me in more ways than I can express. How do we heal? What modes of therapy do we trust and use?  Do you find it more helpful to talk things out or to let things quietly rest? I know that for me, healing begins in body/mind/spirit, and we need all of our faculties to aid the process. There is no need to rush or set deadlines. Healing has its own pace and if we respect it and maintain balance in our lives, it unfolds like a beautiful flower. I talk things out. I consult with doctors and people I trust. I commune with the grace of God within, and then I find the quiet space inside to do my inner work.  If you'd love to join this month, Sign Up, Get the Healing Badge, and check out the Prompts. it's going to be a wonderful month of healing.

Recently, I joined a group of bloggers -  FMS Photo A Day - with the goal to post a photo a day on a specific topic.  I was lax in August but hope to do a better job in September. It looked easy to do, until my health got the better of me; it's not difficult but as you know, life and other things can upset our plans. The best way to handle such turns in events is to relax, release, and regroup. Try it.  For today, In My Cup is the photo. What would you choose? What do you think is in my cup? You can read up the rules here - how to play.

At the beginning of the year, I joined a wonderful group of women who were sharing their weekly list of gratitudes. Each Sunday, Lauren of AlphabetSalad would post a link up and each person would contribute their Gratitude post. I am rejoining the group this month with high hopes to see it through for the rest of the year. Today, am grateful for everything and everyone who crosses my path. Every day, one of my favorite prayers is Psalm 23; The Lord Is My Shepherd. I never forget to stress that line.... my cup runneth over. And so does yours. What are you grateful for today?
ANSWERS: What's in my cups?

1.  Water
2.  Blackberry juice.
3.  Cold Tea.

Some Food for Thought: What are you grateful for?   Love and Peace .
I would love to hear from you.  Please leave me a comment. Thank You!

  1. I always try to do these photo a day challenges, but I never make it past day 5. But maybe if I make it into a blog it may just get done, lol.

  3. This is a great post. I've never tried a photo a day challenge, but I should. If for no other reason than to force myself to take photos. I HATE taking pictures. I should really get over that.

  11. I am not religious, but I am grateful for so so much! Today I was grateful for the beautiful weather. I was thankful that I had the day off to enjoy with my friends. I was very thankful for the local cider mill, as I was able enjoy their super delicious apple cider donuts. I am always thankful for life, love, family, and friendships. We all need to take time to think about what we are grateful for, regardless of our beliefs! I think it could make us all happier.

  23. Maybe, I should think "My cup is always half full". It takes a sound mind and body to heal and if your cup isn't half full but half empty that's not a sound mind. I too look outside my sliding glass windows to see what's visiting in the near area. Usually a few rabbits, squirrels, chipmunks and several species of birds. It makes for a great start to any day.
