“She well knew the great architectural secret of decorating her constructions, and never condescended to construct a decoration.” Anthony Trollope
Today's photo prompt reminds me of the holiday season. From around Thanksgiving on, everywhere we go, we see decorative holiday lights and music to boot. The world is lit up with lights, music and bright colors, especially red and gold, welcoming the holidays. Since I don't spend time decorating things, I reached for photos I took last Christmas holidays. The trees and streets are decorated, and we see the magic of the season flourishing around us. What comes to mind when you hear the word - DECORATE?
Do share.

The holiday season is one of the best times to visit the boroughs of NYC. Each neighborhood finds a theme that fits the folk who live there. People gather to decorate street lights and buildings. I love driving around during this time to see what unique decor is being shown and also to visit friends who live there. Do you decorate your neighborhood during the holidays? What's your favorite decor?

Recently, I joined a group of bloggers - FMS Photo A Day - with the goal to post a photo a day on a specific topic. You can read up the rules here - how to play. It looked easy to do, until my health got the better of me. I'm playing catch up now.

My inspiration to decorate comes from my travels. If it has a story or I can relate it to a story then I like it. Stories mean memories and that is what decor and decoration is all about.
ReplyDeleteChristmas is my absolute favorite time to Decorate! There is just something about the season that inspires me to decorate .. some of the best memories are created around this time. Great Photos
ReplyDeleteDecoration is an art that everyone must learn and apply in real life; Life is an art in which a person's the one molded his own decisions.
ReplyDeleteI love this challenge and the pics ! It really makes you having to think about what to shoot and how to shoot it. Great work !
ReplyDeletei suck at arts or decorating but it warms my heart to see this and to see some people do so. very creative!
ReplyDeleteIt seems pretty easy for me to participate in this group and post a photo a day on a specific topic. I think the topics are easy to stick to. This is going to be so much fun! By the way, the photos that you include in your post, especially the Chrismas ones are lovely!
ReplyDeleteAmazing clicks dear. The nature is often my inspiration for decor. I hate using plastic decorations and prefer to use flowers grown in my garden. Later I put them in my vermicompost put to ensure that become quality manure for the plants. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm ashamed to say that i don't really decorate *LOL*, i have this bad habit of only caring about what's attached to myself (my face, my clothes) and never pay attention to other stuffs around me >.<! Havings ay that, i do love great decors especially around festivities, they're so great for photo taking :D!
ReplyDeleteGreat take on the prompt of the day! It is a bit early to start shopping, but it is never too early to think about Christmas and the beautiful decorations!
ReplyDeleteIt feels like Christmas with the photos. You were able to take a lot of great photos.
ReplyDeleteThe photos are so festive! I love it when cities are decorated with lights in the festival season.:)
ReplyDeleteNice photo of the day group. will this be a trend? hmmm..and I wish there;s a cake like that here in our place. looks yummy!
ReplyDeleteMy inspiration will be the story of mine and my dearest.. We use our photo to decorate
ReplyDeleteHonestly, I am no good in decoration stuff. But I do enjoy seeing good photos of anything. Those Christmas photos made more eager to make my Christmas wishlist.
ReplyDeleteI always think of Halloween and Christmas when the word decorate is mentioned. I'm not a big decorator though and usually use the same decors over and over again. I store them properly so we get a lot of use through the years.
ReplyDeleteI've heard of FMS Photo A Day as I'm very active on instagram. I'm thinking of joining her for September depending on how busy I get. I also hosted my own Style Challenge on IG so it could get crazy.
Hope you feel better!
What a great topic for pictures! And the photos are amazing! I also think of Christmas when I think of decoration. I don't have much decoration at home, but I do have few items both from Finland and Ecuador. To remind me of my both homes.
ReplyDeleteBer month is coming and your pictures about "decorate" reminds me of the most special occasion I love during the year.
ReplyDeleteWhen and where were these very nice Christmas decor photos taken? I already hear Christmas songs on the radio this month, but no Christmas decorations yet!
ReplyDeleteOh man I love christmas feel...these pics are so beautiful!
