Gratitude: Moving Forward In All Things...

Gratitude: Like the SuperMoon, all things change

Did you see the Supermoon on August 10th?  It was a huge moon shining bright in the sky and, because it was closer to earth than your average moon, you could feel the power of its presence.  Some believe that when such occurrences happen, there is a shift on earth and dramatic events take place.  Whether it is true or not, what it augurs is a reminder that change is a constant in our lives and we must flow with the tide. There are times to shine and times to retreat; a grateful heart makes the changes easier on our psyche.  I have spent a good portion of this year in retreat and, while I have legitimate grounds for my quietude, I know it is time to move forward and reconnect with the creative side of my spirit. My return hasn't been easy as there is so much to do. Yet, I know that all things, like the moon, change and that patience and gratitude will take me where I need to be. What about you?

"We keep moving forward, opening new doors, and doing new things, because we're curious and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths." Walt Disney

Why am I making comparisons to the Supermoon? Because it is a perfect example of how everything that connects us on earth moves forward.  The term was coined by an astrologer, Richard Nolle, who believed that " the upcoming full moon “lunar perigee” – the point in which the moon’s orbit is closest to the earth – will bring an array of disastrous events when it is a mere 221,567 miles away."  While we have witnessed the passing of two beloved actors, Robin Williams and Lauren Bacall, in the last 48 hours, in my opinion, the moon phases serve as a catalyst for change. The new moon awakens something deep in our spirit and reminds us to stretch ourselves and move forward. What are you resisting? What is shining before you that needs your attention? It could be mental, emotional, material or spiritual. Only we know and, with a bit of shift in our thinking, our challenges can be faced with less fear.

Gratitude: Moving forward in all seasons
How are you coping with the heated moments in your life? How about the quiet spaces you've found yourself embracing? Whether we are ready or not, one thing is certain, time moves forward. The sooner we can find ways to share our gratitude and see the good in our challenges, the better. The seasons change and soon fall will be upon us. Have you done all you planned to do this summer? I haven't! Lets get up and move and the grace will come. I believe it. Have a great week ahead!

Some Food for Thought: How do you move forward when changes occur? What are you grateful for today?  Love and Peace!  I would love to hear from you.  Please leave me a comment. Thank You!

  1. You cannot control the things around you, so if there is change, you have no choice but to keep moving forward. If you spend your time dwelling the past, then you'll never advance and grow.

  2. I was just talking with one of my daughter's friends (in her 40s) about eliminating "drama" in your life, and finding peace with what you have

  3. This is definitely a lesson in humility that I am trying to teach my children. It is important to be grounded and humble.

  4. Amazing photos of the moon! I wasn't able to wait until 2am (here in the Philippines) when the moon would be at its fullest, but I was up until around 10pm and the moon was already breathtakingly gorgeous by then.

  6. I saw the Supermoon and it was amazing! Really like the first quote about moving on and focusing on the next thing, if the last one did not go as you wanted it to.

  7. Ohhh drama is soo bad for you and if you have ways to eliminate it that is the thing to do... My kids always hear me say that and hope they will get the hint from me and choose their friends and things wisely. I always say everything happens for a reason if you made the wrong choice work towards the right one, keep moving forward and watch your choices... Thanks for sharing

    1. Drama? My post is about moving forward with our lives and embracing the change. I simply referenced what an astrologer said about the Supermoon leading to dramatic events in the world... Oh boy!

  8. I did get a glimpse of the Super Moon. My four year old sat on our front porch and admired the sight. HE was looking at the moon and I was watching him mostly...

  9. Too bad I missed this Supermoon though if you asked me (on your two questions before concluding this post), I just do what is right for me; and I'm grateful that I'm still alive for today, still strong, and making noise through blogging (something I loved and had been doing for a decade).

  10. We always put forward our thinking to the things that have meaning. Don't dwell to the things that does not conform with your passion.

    1. Daniel. I'm glad you think children need to know this... I think everyone needs to know this. Gratitude is not the reserve of one group.

  14. Change is the only constant..its difficult to keep balance in all ups and downs that life offers but just keeping faith in tough times helps... anything that doesn't kill you, makes you stronger!

  15. Well I used to have a great heartbreak when one of my ex left me... I was devastated and sad all the time, the only thing that cheers me up is when I'm with my friends... They are always there to cheer me up whenever I am down.. I'm grateful that I've met such great friends ;) and some of them are from the internet.. I've got to know them from the internet first, then later on we met in real life

  19. It's pretty cool to be reading this when I just (Yes, JUST) wrote a facebook status about "Moving forward" in chinese. This is what I wrote (briefly similar):
Whether a person is a saboteur or a benefactor, it all depends on how you look.

When a person steps into your relationship (third party), he or she may be a saboteur, but we can also see him/her as a benefactor to save or prevent you from getting more hurt in future! So just like what you said, to move forward and be grateful, things will change for the better!

  20. The moon was beautiful last week and I do feel that many weird and wonderful changes happen during this time of the month. Good and not so good things occur, but we must accept and embrace them..

  23. i love watching a full moon surrounded by millions of stars in a clear sky. but now that i live in a city, i hardly have any chance to have a sight like this. and yes i believe that somehow the appearance of the moon has has effects to how we feel and even attracts certain events to happen like the passing of R. Williams and so on
