"A happy life must be to a great extent a quiet life, for it is only in an atmosphere of quiet that true joy dare live." Bertrand Russell

I took a look at the heart shaped leaf in my coffee cup and then a sip...
I knew... it was time for quiet, silent meditation
I knew... it was time for prayer

Some days, the quiet settles in of its own; without prompts or struggles...
Some days, a prayer, a simple reminder or exchange stirs the heart to pray
Some days, a floral bouquet, a cup of coffee, or a cuppa tea does the same.
A New Year's Prayer
Dear Lord, please give me
A few friends who understand me and remain my friends;
A work to do which has real value,
without which the world would be the poorer;
A mind unafraid to travel, even though the trail be not blazed;
An understanding heart;
A sense of humor;
Time for quiet, silent meditation;
A feeling of the presence of God;
The patience to wait for the coming of these things,
With the wisdom to recognize them when they come.
Amen. Unknown via happywink.org
I added a beautiful prayer I found and I keep reaching for it this year... just perfect.
*PS I'm new to Small Stones so advice me if I'm so left field. Thank you for your feedback.
What are small stones?
According to the originators of this wonderful exercise, a small stone is a short piece of writing (prose or poetry) that precisely captures a fully-engaged moment. The process of discovering small stones is as important as the finished product. Searching for small stones will encourage you to keep all your senses; - your eyes,(and ears, nose, mouth, fingers, feelings and mind) open.
Some Food for Thought: What are you observing around you? Can you write about those things in small, short pieces? Take a moment for quiet, silent meditation and prayer. What messages are you receiving from your heart? Love and Peace in 2013.
I would love to hear from you: Please leave me a comment. Thank You!
