Haiku: Love Is Like A Summer Bloom...

"I know I am but summer to your heart, and not the full four seasons of the year.” Edna St. Vincent Millay

When love comes calling,
Bright, warm, full of hope and joy
Like a summer bloom...

The early bird sings,
Sweet, lyrical, a love dirge
Ripe, like bleeding hearts...

When love calls your name
Unfurl your petals and bloom
Her call is fleeting!

More below.

“Let your life lightly dance on the edges of Time like dew on the tip of a leaf.” Rabindranath Tagore

Love opens petals,
Each, gently kissed by sunrise
At dusk, they embrace...

When love comes knocking
Lush, fragrant, like morning dew
Tell love, we're ready...

Some Food for Thought: Do you have any strong associations to summer time? What imagery comes to mind?   Take a moment to reflect on your summer so far. Is it satisfying?  Love and Peace .
I would love to hear from you.  Please leave me a comment. Thank You!

  1. Great Poem! I did poetry extensively in High School. The Summertime Imagery is can relate to is " True Love is like waiting for the ice-cream man on a hot summer day .. it takes patience" :-)

  2. Elizabeth when I was single, all I think about is how can I spend my summer at the beach with my friends having fun all day and all night long. Now that I have my own family, when summer comes to mind, water and sand are still in the picture but more of family-oriented activities. They do not necessarily have to be fancy activities but as long as we spend it as a unit and we create happy memories, it's the perfect summer for me.

  6. Beautiful and inspiring writing. Poetry is such a beautiful expression of our thoughts. More adults should take the time to write poetry! -- or at the very least, read and appreciate it.

  16. My strong associations with summer all have to do with flowers - I usually think of blooms that have to do with my family, like bleeding hearts and peonies. These are flowers that make me think of my parents.

  22. Lovely poetry. My associations of summer are of the water. When I was a child we were at the ocean every day. Flowers remind of spring and the birth of new things, like the start of a new love.
