DID YOU KNOW...?1. Your shoes are the first things people subconsciously notice about you. Wear nice and decent shoes. 2. If you sit for more than 11 hours a day, there's a 50% chance that it will make you severely sick in two years. 3. There are at least six people in the world who look exactly like you. There's a 9% chance that you'll meet one of them in your lifetime. 4. Sleeping without a pillow reduces back pain and keeps your spine stronger. 5. A person's height is determined by their father, and their weight is determined by their mother.I was reading some posts on a friend's Facebook page when I came across this list of nineteen (19) Did-You-Know facts? I was so taken by them that I had to share them with you. We can live consciously and in awe of the magnificence of the universe we inhabit or we can remain blinded by worry. We can work to maintain our health or worry ourselves to death. Worry won't change a thing. Information can and will.

Food For Thought: Did You Know? Honey Bees help keep us alive? eobihfrank photos © |
6. If a part of your body "falls asleep", you can almost always "wake it up" by shaking your head. 7. There are three things the human brain cannot resist noticing: food, attractive people and danger. 8. Right-handed people tend to chew food on their right side. 9. Putting dry tea bags in gym bags or smelly shoes will absorb the unpleasant odour. 10. According to Albert Einstein, if honey bees were to disappear from the earth, humans would be dead within four years.I was quite impressed by the fact that honey bees add more to our livelihood than we ever consider. The pollination work they do, helps seeds and plants flourish and grow, and they feed us in so many ways. When was the last time you gave those bees much thought?

11. There are so many kinds of apples that if you ate a new one everyday it would take over 20 years to try them all. 12. You can survive for weeks without eating, but you will only live 11 days without sleeping. 13. People who laugh a lot are healthier than those who don't. 14. Laziness and inactivity kill just as many people as smoking. 15. A human brain has the capacity to store five times as much information as Wikipedia.I love apples and have always been a member of the "An apple a day keeps the doctor away" club. I had no idea that we had enough varieties to keep us munching for the next 20 years. Who knew? This confirms what I've always known, and still believe, that we live in an abundant world with enough to go around... We just need to learn to share more.

16. Our brain uses the same amount power as 10-watt light bulb. 17. Our body gives enough heat in 30 minutes to boil 1.5 litres of water. 18. Stomach acid (conc. HCl) is strong enough to dissolve razor blades. 19. Take a 10- to 30-minute walk everyday and, while you walk, SMILE. It is the ultimate antidepressant. 20. Living life consciously and compassionately is important... Spread joy not hate! When we take time to look around us and pay attention to the world we inhabit, we will come to the realization that it is our collaborative effort that keeps it all going. We can put a smile on our face, take a walk and be grateful for what is. Living life consciously and compassionately is imperative.

Love this post, im really glad to found this.Thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the feedback John!
DeleteInteresting about Einstein and the bees. I think about them all the time and am aware of how many plants, fruits and vegetables we might go without if we did not have bees around to pollinate them.
ReplyDeleteYes, that one got me thinking a lot more about the subject.
DeleteYes! Love it!!! I very rarely think about negative things! My hubby thinks I'm crazy and live in a bubble world, but when you only focus on the good, well more good things happen!
ReplyDeleteWow how interesting! I definitely learned quite a lot from your post today :) It's almost like fun facts! Thank you for sharing these facts!
ReplyDeleteThese are great points to ponder and very insightful. thanks for sharing
ReplyDeleteFocus and determination is the key to success. They must come in pair to reach the goal we have in life.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing this great information!
Those are some interesting thoughts and facts. Personally I do not care what people think of my shoes--I buy for comfort not fashion! And yes, I agree when we all cooperate the world is a better place!
ReplyDeleteTo stay aware is to spend less time on-line and more time just seeing.
ReplyDeleteGreat article! I aways heard, what you eat describes who you are. WE choose who we are on everyday.
ReplyDeleteIt really is a collaborative effect that keeps everything going. It is a good reminder to take heed of the little and big things around us. :)
ReplyDeleteIndeed it is! No man is an island unto himself. We need the collaboration.
DeleteInteresting thoughts. We hope to become bee keepers soon, so I'm glad we'll be contributing to the existence of the human race. (=
ReplyDeleteBut I wonder about the height and weight thought. My father is tall, but all my brothers are short like my Mom. I wonder if genetics are as simple as the thought implies.
I wonder about the height/weight one too as genetics is not so linear.
DeleteLife is too short to spend on negativity. Great article!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fascinating list! I was aware of some of them, but not all. I agree that #10 is especially alarming!
ReplyDeleteI am totally agree with the fact about sleeping without pillow helping us take care of back health and neck. I always sleep without pillow and it's awesome. It also helping us in reducing sleepingbag . hihi
ReplyDeletebtw, would you please mention the name of FB group where we usually share our article and tend to comment each other? Seems like i was kicked out because i couldn't find it any longer. thankyou
I will check Bloggers Worldwide for you and try to add you again. Thank you! :-)

ReplyDeleteThis was an interesting read. The fun fact about shoes made me laugh! My shoes are in horrible condition. I rarely make it around to replacing anything, until it absolutely falls apart and I'm forced to!
ReplyDeleteHahaha! :-) l know the feeling.
DeleteOMG so cool! Well thanks dad for making me SHORT... And I would like to not think that there is ANYONE ELSE in this world that looks like me! ;)
ReplyDeleteShoes are definitely not the first thing I notice about someone - in fact they are not even in the top 5 for me. That was interesting.
ReplyDeleteConsciously, you might choose to see X but, your subconscious mind sees the shoes.
DeleteHaha I had no clue shoes are usually the first thing people notice! That's a neat fact to know
ReplyDeleteInteresting positive article helps me to remain focus or maybe the yellow color of your website. The atmosphere feel happy and I enjoy reading about shoes....Food for thought.lol

ReplyDeleteGreat tips!! I need to learn to focus better - would get a lot more done! :)
ReplyDeleteA nice reminder to stop and not take life so seriously. And seriously the truth that I always notice food, no matter what I'm doing or feeling. I love my food.
ReplyDeleteMy youngest and I just did research on bees and they really do do a lot more than I initially thought too.
ReplyDeleteThese are such interesting Did You Know facts! I especially like #19. So many people got through their day without a smile and it really does influence your whole outlook as well as make an impression on others!
ReplyDeleteI'm guilt about the shoes. It's the first thing that I always look at when I am to meet a person or check when I see passers-by. This is such a nice read, learned new stuff and at the same time it made me smile because of the positive vibes it brought my way - something that I super need today.
ReplyDeleteGlad to put a smile on your face. I love shoes so that one caught my attention first.

ReplyDeleteAs an apple lover, I just may take the challenge of eating a new one everyday, for the next 20 years, lol! After being diagnosed with Breast Cancer I try to live each day to the fullest. Positive thinking and motivation helped bring me through.
ReplyDeleteWow these are so interesting. I am totally going to try the shake your head thing if something falls asleep.
ReplyDeleteThat's a cool thought that there are 6 people in the world that look just like you. I have been told that there was a girl that lives in my city that looks just like me. Interesting about people subconsciously noticing our footwear – now I'm going to be testing out this fact the next time I go out. That's a scary thought about the honey bees.
ReplyDeleteInteresting facts. I didn't know most of them. Number is scary. I wonder what the connection with honeybees and humans that if they disappear, all the people will die.
ReplyDeleteThese are awesome pictures. I look at them and see the cycle of live. I feel when you see or even notice this you really see the purpose for everything. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI love these facts! Sadly, I haven't seen any honey bees this year so that has me a tad worried. I too love apples and I did not know not sleeping would kill you after 11 days!
ReplyDeleteI knew number 4, but I don't think number 5 is exactly true. I can see getting my height from my dad, but my mom is a skinny twig even after having two big babies... I haven't been so lucky. lol All very interesting things though!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photographs of the flowers. And nice nuggets of interesting facts and wisdom, too. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteAwesome fun facts! I love that quote by Alexander Graham Bell. So true.

ReplyDeletethat is something I should try to do.
thats true but difficult too, because we keep recall our fears ...
ReplyDeleteI love your post and always feel refreshed after reading it. Incidently, I have already met two of my "twins".
ReplyDeleteI had to laugh about the chewing-side thing! I'm a right-hander, but I've got a cracked tooth on that side that I'm not getting fixed until tomorrow, and for the past couple days I keep telling my husband how weird it feels to chew on the other side! So for me, this one is true :)

#12 is very true. A lack of sleep has contributed to accidents that could've prevented disasters like Chernobyl or the Air France crash. Yet, many companies push their employees to the extreme, as if they were machines. Even machines need maintenance. We only have one body and life to live, so we must use our time wisely.
ReplyDeleteVery interesting facts presented here. Thanks for sharing I did not know about this.
